The action really opened up this past weekend as teh weather cooperated and we had our first weekend forecast without rain. With the influx of bait into our local waters the 2019 season is official upon us.
In the canal Sebiles Magic Swimmers are working best
Diawa SP in the bay and north river area, as well as the dartspin are taking the most schoolies in the area.
Mass Bay
Haddock - Stellwagen is fishing better over the past 7 days boats gettting limits easily once on the fish.
1. Northwest corner and middlebank shoals and double LLs fishing well. Shoalwater east of the SWC is still dead.
2. Black Rose charters caught a 68lb Halibut last week on the bank check it out here
2. The offshore ledge outside Plymouth is still producing a good amount of nice sized haddock. The fish are moving out to the and are in the mud off the offshore ledge. Activity in this contour can be found north off farnham. Alot of boats are skipping the run out to stellwagen to fish inshore.
School bass are every where right now
1. North and South Rivers holding alot of 24-28 inch fish
2. Inside Boston Harbor is loaded with fish up to 34 inches.
Flounder - Flounder bite has lite up this past week.
1. Fish have moved into the boston inner island peddocks and spectacle in good numbers.
2. Scituate harbor giving up some nice legal fish. Not alot of boats fishing this yet.
2. A few fish inside green harbor should start moving outside soon as the dredging is complete.
4. Brewster flats and welflett harbor producing very good numbers currently.
Mackerel Big horse mackeral are in the bay right now on the inshore ledges.
1. Typical south shore ledges are giving them up off the Gurnet, Farnham and scituate.
Buzzards Bay/Canal
Bass - Large volume of bass in the area. Birds are covering most schools and fish up to 30" are not being caught fairly constantly.
1. Plenty of large bait in the area. Big Scup and pogies are all over western buzzards bay up to maritime and taylor point.
Tataug - West BB area is hot boat getting easy limits. Small to average sized fish no world beaters.
1. Clevland ledge is still the best bet
2. Woods hole is still fishing good
Big Black Seabass and Scup and what most boats were chasing with the opening this past week. Multiple reports of seabass pushing bait on the surface and porgies busting up peoples gear. The fish are here and feeding need more boats out there to report.
