NMFS is considering reopening fishing for Bluefin Tuna in October. ICAAT finalized a rule increase in the US bluefin quota from 1,058.79 to 1,247.86 metric tons (mt), the level recommended for 2018 through 2020 by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) at its 2017 annual meeting. After the tally for the Oct/Nov subquoata period with the rule increase there is approximately 50mt still available forperiod. There will be a decision to reopen and when in the next 48 hours.
